- Origins of the name Kilpatrick:
Scottish, of Clans Colquhoun
and Douglas.
We got our Irish from County
Antrim and possibly Counties
Galway and/or Roscommon.
I'm also 1/256 Cherokee Indian.

- Mom's family (she was born Rita Felgar):
Dutch (only unique
certainty, as Grandma's maiden name was Aten)

This we owe to the presence of a Conrad Felgar in Nose Creek (now part of Calgary), Alberta, in 1901.
Also, there's an excellent page on the history of Germans from Russia, among which group Conrad likely was.

In the above two languages, "felgar" and "fälgar"(same pronunciation),
respectively, refer to wheel rims. As such, I hypothesise, long shot that
Scandinavia is, that the first Felgars started thence and migrated southward/westward, as wagonmakers.
